The Royal College of Art X Monsoon

We love a good brand collaboration, and so when we spied the partnership between Monsoon and The Royal College Of Art, we fell head over heels for the collection. Spying images all over the Twittersphere, as well as our favourite hotspots for fashion catch-ups including Look.co.uk, we were totally besotted by the bold graphic lines and prints, and stunningly cut garments. So, when the lovely Love from Monsoon asked us to get involved and style up a piece from the collection we jumped at the chance to get involved- not only is the collection itself beautiful, its story is a marvel too...

The collaboration sees Monsoon supporting and celebrating emerging talent by sponsoring students from The Royal College of Art to create an exclusive collection for them. Now in its third incarnation,  Monsoon supported the initiative which resulted in winning designs from two post graduate students, Print & Textile Designer Lucy Rainbow and Womenswear Designer Rebecca Stant.

 
 
 
The collection comprises of pieces inspired by the sights, sounds and colours of vibrant India (the daisy dress in particular highlights this perfectly). Deep reds, bright yellows and rich navy shades adorn the gorgeously patterned pieces, with artisan craftsmanship in mind. The collection has been created using traditional Indian artisan techniques; my (Lauren's) dress is printed using hand carved wooden blocks repeatedly over a piece of cotton. Lucy and Rebecca have designed their range to work sustainably using natural dyes and block prints.

The pieces work perfectly as standalone stunners, or teamed together to up style kudos by working this years mismatched prints to the max. We were spoiled for choice, and wish we could have chosen the lot!
