Alex Monroe for Buckingham Palace

So a couple of weeks ago I got a little cryptic on instagram and posted a picture of the Queen's gaff (also known as Buckingham Palace) with a mysterious caption. Don't you just hate bloggers who do that? Gah!

Anyway, we can't hide it - we've always been royalists. We full on adore the monarchy - the traditions, the splendour, the Duchess, cutie tootie George and the superhero that is our great monarch, Queen Elizabeth II. What a woman.

Now on to the collection! We were incredibly fortunate to be invited to Buckingham Palace and meet Mr Monroe, hear about the collection and see it in full. As Lauren was at work, little ol' freelance me went along solo.

We went in before anyone else, which was so incredible - it really is breathtaking inside, and I felt so lucky. Walking through to the gardens and the Royal Collection shop, Alex introduced us to the collection and said that it was actually edited down, as he had so many ideas for the collection. Each piece was inspired by details around Buckingham Palace, with a story behind it - I particularly loved the tassel pendant, a replica of a curtain tie (although the grapes were super sweet, and the rose leaf, in my opinion, the most regal of the collection).

I managed to grab a word with the man himself, to ask him his favourite piece. "The Palace Heart", he said, "because it's so thin, it was the hardest piece and so I really enjoyed the challenge. That's my favourite of the 17 pieces designed for the Royal Collection".

We were lucky enough to be given a gift bag with a necklace each with the Palace Peacock Flower, a feminine and delicate pendant, so we did a little style up, as you can see!

Thank you to the lovely team at Alex Monroe for the invitation! You can see the full gorgeous collection here.
