November Wonder Products

Come November we are all spending more time inside, and when outside is like walking around a blast chiller, we all need a few products to rely on to keep us in check. Of course a few of our favourites such as Vaseline, Burts Bees and Sudocreme/Savlon go without saying, but a few other wonder products are totally making our month.

Rodial Dragons Blood
rodial dragons blood review
Already huge fans of Rodial, their Dragon's Blood range plumps, protects and hydrates skin which is perfect for the winter months when our skin turns dry, fragile and battered. The range is a little pricier than things like Nivea and Simple, but well worth the investment-- our skin was left feeling nourished and looked after as opposed to overworked or greasy.

The ingenious eye gel soothes and smoothes the under eye area by thickening the thin skin there. This both makes you feel and look brighter and more awake as well as helping to reduce fine lines by rehydrating and reducing puffiness. Perfect for all of the Christmas parties and er... over indulgence of festive beverages.

For a daily moisturiser, we have been reaching for the hyaluronic moisturiser which works perfectly to hydrate and plump skin. People often forget that sun damage is still a problem for skin in the winter, so the SPF 15 in this moisturiser has kept our SPF worries at bay. In the evenings, we have been using the XXL sculpting serum to allow the dragons blood magic to work overnight. This little wonder product improves elasticity and supports rehydration and oxygenates the skin which helps to firm and smooth out tired and dry skin. Finally is the intensely softening hyaluronic mask which is super powerful and perfect for a pamper night or use whilst you sleep. Simply apply and let the 3d filing spheres and gransil work its magic!

Bumble&Bumble Thickening Dryspun Finish
bumble and bumble thickening dry spun finish review
Both of us suffer from quite fine hair which can be flyaway and brittle in the winter when it gets chilly. Luckily, we have discovered the Bumble&Bumble Thickening Dryspun Finish, £22 and we couldn't recommend it more. Apply as you would a hairspray for hold and texture without the awkward crispiness of a spray. It also smells fairly lush and comes with a lot in the can. We've been really impressed with the all day hold as it feels so light on application but can even withstand a bobble hat!

Matrix Total Results

Talking of hair, you may have noticed a couple of new do's on Instagram of late... These are with huge thanks to the guys at Matrix Total Results who invited us to local salons to meet the Matrix Guest Artists and try out their new products.

The newly packaged Matrix Total Results Hair Care ranges are in super sleek bottles and perfectly tailored to our own needs. Be it blonde care, heat resist, sleek, volume, silver or colour care, Matrix have the range for you. All of the products have been specifically designed to battle the problems faced by those who care for their hair!
We were truly delighted with the salons we visited too, with Flic already having made a repeat visit for a cut and a little colour!

I met with Jamie Stevens at his salon in Kensington London; stylist to the stars, British hairdresser of the year winner and the resident hair stylist on the X Factor for the past 4 years. After lopping off a considerable amount of length in the summer, I was interested to get his expert advice on what would suit me best. I showed him photographs of my lengthy hair and then my shoulder length style too. To my surprise, he said that my oval-heart shape face would really suit a 'wobble' - a longer-wavy bob, but shorter still than I had undergone in the summer.

Feeling brave, I took his advice and listened intently at all the tips he was dishing out and the products he was using. He used a combination of High Amplify and Moisture Me Rich products from the new Matrix lines. Tip number one, don't be afraid to combine products if your hair crosses over in its needs. My hair needs a bit of a lift because it is fine (hence the call foe a volumiser), but moisture would help me to keep the shine, so a moisturising product would support me here. After the cut a volume spray was used to give the blow dry a lift, and then a texturising serum applied to the ends once finished to give it movement- perfection.

In summary, I was delighted with my finished look, a shorter and healthier looking style to keep me sassy and youthful, a little more high maintenance than usual but I'm so pleased!

Felicity: I had an amazing experience at Flame Hair Studios in Towcester. In the more-than capable hands of Creative Director Ashleigh Hodges, we had a good natter about the range and what I wanted to achieve (Alexa hair with a ton of volume, which is my ideal hair if anyone wondered).

Ashleigh is a genius and has actually been nominated for a British Hairdressing Award, so you know this girl knows hair. She washed my mess of a mop and blow dried to perfection with the Total Amplify range. Designed to give you weightless volume, I was absolutely blown away by how light and soft my hair felt - no residue to report, captain. I had such a great experience, I've actually been back twice - one for a cut, and back again for some lowlights...!
