Camden Collective: City & Islington Fashion Show

On Friday 27th June, Foundation degree students (Fashion wih Textiles) at the City & Islington College showcased the collections costing them blood, sweat and tears over the past academic year.

Each collection showed a twist of individuality and a stamp of brilliance from the super trends featured at London Fashion Week for SS14 and the more recent AW14 shows. Sports luxe with neon punches and metallic glints, intricate lace and sheer detailing, structured silhouettes and super prints all featured, and were handmade from drawn design to completion by the design students.

I was pleasantly surprised by the attention to detail and diversity amongst the collections shown, including some menswear and pieces for children, too. The wedding collection was a serious highlight (that lace was absolutely incredible) and I personally loved the cash print and sexy oxblood lace playsuit.
The students organised the entire space themselves and used the superb utilitarian styling of the Camden Collective space as a backdrop for the collection.
They will now go on to further study at prestigious fashion universities such as London College Fashion or work in the industry for other designers, manufacturers and textile producers. Thank you to Klaudia, one of the designers, for the invitation!
