Whilst we love our jobs, they do get in the way of us seeing each other for a good old style shoot, so what better compromise than shooting some new work wear pieces- perfect for making that ease back into civilisation in January a whole lot easier!
We thought we would show you five working pieces that we can't be without, along with some lust worthy new garms from Boden, all ideal for the 9-5.
#1 HEELS
Both: Sassy heels really help us to bring our A-game, and we utterly adore the new season shoes from Boden. Great, comfy designs in work friendly colour ways, the Cicely and Amelia shoes caught our eye at the press show last year. Even if you aren't feeling enthusiastic, we always find that popping on a pair of great heels helps to lift the mood and puts a spring in your step!
F: I love an inspirational quote or two (we don't often share them on social media, as it can get a little cliché coming from bloggers) but they definitely brighten the day! I have a Kate Spade one up right now (She is quick, curious, playful and strong) but I love this quote from Shannon L. Alder when I want to change up:
"The best kind of happiness is a habit you're passionate about"
It sums up blogging for me, as well as work. I couldn't do a job I didn't love (and have struggled in jobs where I didn't love what I was doing). I honestly believe you should love and believe in what you do - it needs to be so good, it hardly feels like work, and when it does feel like work, it's something you're intensely proud of. I bought the postcard from Kikki K stationery in Covent Garden, and I have to shout out to girlboss and all round lovely fellow blogger Monica from The Elgin Avenue for the heads up on that one!
#3 FILOFAX
L: I wouldn't be able to function without my Filofax, perfect for collating all dates, blog events and shooting dates. With my job, I'm incredibly busy 90% of the time, so having somewhere to keep all important dates and reminders is essential for me. The pocket Filofax is just the right size to bring all of my plans together.
#4 LIPSTICK
F: A bright lip takes it to the next level. It's a game changer. It's the make up equivalent of putting on your big girl pants and dealing with it - it's the last thing I do before stepping out the door. For me, it's armour - the brighter, the bolder, the better.
#5 A DECENT SIZED BAG
L: Regular readers will know that I like to bring my kitchen sink along with me wherever I go, and work is no exception. I generally carry a purse, two phones, headphone, a notebook, filofax, a reading book, a medical bag (so plasters, painkillers etc) and a makeup bag too.. I know... The gorgeous Fearne slouchy bag from Boden is perfect to fit in all of my
ahem... essentials... without it looking like I've stuffed my bag solid with bits and bobs.
