10 Ways to Beat Wedding Stress.

1. TALK IT OUT

If your wedding is giving you a total headache - tell someone! Talk to your bridal party and let it all out. This is what you have bridesmaids for. A good moan and a listening ear helps to alleviate stress (and the offers of help will come flooding in). Say yes.

2. WALK IT OUT

Exercise not only helps you look tip top in your dress (bonus) but it really makes you feel 100x better. Even if it’s just a 20 minute power walk in your lunch break, make sure you’re moving!

3. WRITE IT DOWN

Writing is cathartic - any mindfulness geek knows that - but it also helps you gain perspective. Write without editing, without stopping and your main concerns will come out in there somewhere. Prioritise accordingly!

4. MAKE IT MANAGEABLE

Now you have a list of priorities, split it up into manageable chunks. If you’ve got tons of time, you can have 1 or 2 main priorities a month. If you’re panicking due to lack of time, choose what you want to do and…

5. DELEGATE

Always a tricky one, but absolutely worth doing. If you have wonderful friends and family (which I’m sure you do), they’ll already be asking if they can help. Choose what you’re least fussed over/isn’t your skill set and pick a trustworthy and willing victim volunteer to book, make or sort it for you. Give them a list of likes and dislikes, do’s and don’ts and trust them to do a good job.

6. CREATE

This is much easier if you’re already a creative sort (if not, use this time for Netflix and avoidance a proven stress buster - mindfulness, meditation or adult colouring all help). A great way to bust stress is by making or creating something for your wedding. Choose a project (don’t do loads, that = more stress) that is nice to have but not essential - that way if it goes wrong, you won’t have a total meltdown.

7. KEEP IT FREE

Have at least one day or weekend every few weeks free of wedding admin. Do something with your other half (remember him?), see friends, visit family - however you choose to spend it, make sure you impose a wedding ban. Time out is good for the soul - and the stress levels.

8. KEEP IT SIMPLE

It’s very easy when you’re excited to take on as much as possible - craft projects, DIY bouquets, homemade favours - but these can make things so much harder and sometimes end up costing more. Pinterest is not life. Don’t bite off more than you can chew! If it’s too late, see number 5. If all else fails, either forget it or throw money at it till it goes away.

9. DRINK

Wine is your friend.

10. J.F.D.I.

This is a little saying my Dad likes to come out with every now and again. Just in case you’re not familiar with it, it means ‘Just fucking do it’ - a brilliant way to relieve stress, if there ever was one. Social media banned, phone on silent - get cracking!

Just 10 days to go! I'm really on a countdown now... see you next week!

FELICITY
