The Hoxton Holborn Review

Following our UK Blog Awards win, we were reunited just two days later for a travel and lifestyle opportunity in central London - an overnight stay at the newly opened Hoxton Holborn. After visiting the Shoreditch Hoxton for blog events, we were unbelievably excited to be reviewing the Hoxton Holborn - right slap bang in the middle of London.

There are four options for bedrooms- Shoebox, Snug, Cosy and Roomy, all varying in size- the Shoebox perfect for one night in town, and the Roomy, the perfect treat for kicking back and enjoying all that The Hoxton Holborn has to offer. We scored two 'Cosy' rooms, the perfect size for our (oversized) luggage and blogging on the comfiest bed!

The décor is effortlessly trendy, with each room being a little unique- we felt that The Hoxton Holborn had researched us with Lauren having a 'Softly Does It' turquoise cushion and Felicity having a simple 'hashtag' one! What the Hoxton achieved so perfectly was avoiding that 'hotel' feeling that you can get in a lot of chains, where every room is decked out in the same, dated décor with little character and little imagination.

Matte black leather Roberts radios greeted us upon entry in each of our rooms (jealous as we both are yearning for one!), which was a welcome change from the usual 'TV on' situation in hotels! The bathrooms are decked out with glossy black and white tiles from floor to ceiling, a stunning, premium feel which is uber trendy! For us selfie takers, the giant circle mirror provided the perfect opportunity and we loved how much larger it made the room feel! The rooms also feature a 'rip-off free' minibar containing fresh milk and bottled water. The bathroom is decked out with Pen and Ink toiletries, which were super luxurious- we love little beauty products!

The lampshades dotted around the room were super cool and changed the ambiance perfectly, lighting up the leather chair in the corner, the drop-down wooden bureau and the fabulous printed wallpaper. The rooms are so perfectly Pinterest-able, like each element had been dropped from one board to another- whoever was tasked with the interior design has done a stellar job.

Free WiFi and an hour of phonecalls makes this the perfect place for trendy business people looking for a central location for meetings or drinks. It really nails the 'boutique-come-design' hotel vibe, but still maintains a comfortable 'home from home' feeling (basically what we wish our homes were  like)! All of the public areas are perfectly in keeping with the vibe of the rooms - literary cool with a real vintage feel.

For eating, Chicken Shop is on the Lower Ground Floor (and comes highly recommended), as well as Hubbard & Bell which delivers to your room. If you follow us on instagram you may have seen we popped right across the road to My Old Dutch for a pancake dinner...!

You can grab breakfast in the morning, or put a small paper bag (provided) outside your room for a complimentary takeaway breakfast (orange juice, granola with yogurt and bluberry compote and a banana). Very nice, but perhaps we could've done with an option on drink (Lauren is allergic to citrus fruits).

We loved...
The gorgeous attention to detail - chrome hairdryers, penguin books, a teabag pot with 'Dirty Old Bag' on the bottom? In. Love.

You forgot...
A little more wardrobe space - we don't travel light, y'know. Oh and perhaps some Earl Grey tea, but now we're just being picky.

The Hoxton Holborn is a stones throw from the British Museum (3 minutes on foot), 1 minute from Holborn Tube station and no more than 10 minutes from the Tottenham Court Road end of Oxford Street. Rooms start from a budget boutique friendly £69. There is no question about it; if you are looking for a central hotel which has a truly British feel, we wholly recommend this one!

Thanks to the lovely staff at The Hoxton Holborn for hosting us and to Christabel for arranging our stay- we will 100% be returning!

You can follow The Hoxton on FacebookTwitterInstagram, and you can also find them in Shoreditch, Paris, Williamsburg and soon, Lauren's favourite... Amsterdam!
