Beauty | Rimmel Wonder'full Mascara

We got a cutie little beauty goody in our Amazon Press Day gift bags - the brand new Rimmel Wonder'full Mascara with Argan Oil (it's not even out yet so we felt pretty jammy, as you'd imagine). I'm blessed with dark eyelashes (they go blonde at the ends, so mascara just gives that nice lengthening effect we all like). I was expecting good things, as my eyes tend to get attacked on a daily basis with a hefty dose of eyeliner and mascara...

So here's my mug sans mascara - I'm wearing Smashbox CC cream in Fair (which I adore, both of us got some at the SS14 press event so thank you Smashbox, review coming soon!), Urban Decay Brow Box in Brown Sugar which I snapped up on Fragrance Direct a few months ago for £5.99 and Une Breezy Cheeks Cream Blush in B05. Oh and powder, Lancôme Mat Finish Sheer Loose Powder - Normal To Oily Skin - in 4.5 Dore (I believe this is discontinued, another £5.99 bargain from a local make up outlet).

First off, let's just take a look at how non-gloopy this is - I didn't wipe the wand, I just took it out of the bottle, so the product build up is non-existent. This made me a happy blogger, as I usually hate these brushes and massively prefer the old school fat bristly kind (my favourite mascaras are Elizabeth Arden Double Density and Maybelline Volum'Express, which should give you an idea of what I look for. Big fat black lashes, that's what). I don't mind the packaging - it's very obviously geared towards the Argan Oil trend of coppery gold, it's not really offensive to me but if packaging is a huge dealbreaker to you then you may prefer the monochrome clean lines of other brands...

Ok so this is one coat of the stuff, and so far I'm impressed. Glossy consistency, even coverage, the usual good stuff you'd expect from Rimmel...

Before and After

I felt like this lengthened my eyelashes really well without making them clumpy. I also found the product itself quite moisturising, and it was nice to get a benefit alongside a cosmetic function - almost like a BB/CC cream for your eyelashes. My one complaint is that I found it a little flaky if I applied a second coat so it must dry fairly quickly - try and get it all done in one! It withstood the recent boiling weather in London and tube journeys with no touch ups - a little smudging on the lower lashes, but nothing I wouldn't expect from a non-waterproof product on a crazy hot day. Rimmel, I'm impressed!

What's your favourite mascara? Has anyone else got their hands on a tube of this stuff? Tweet us @PrettyPoshOMG!

  1. I recently got a sample of Rimmel Scandaleyes Retro Glam and I'm addicted to it. So being as this is the same brand and has argan oil, which I love, I'm pretty sure I'd like it. :D
